Dowsing are one of those bands who cut deep. There's a lot of tragedy, sorrow and heartache involved when they churn out their '90s-influenced emo. But these Chicago natives can definitely be celebrated because when they do what they do, it's crisp, melodic and in tune with what the world needs - waves of honesty and conjectures of truth, told tenfold.

Kittyhawk - Count Your Lucky Stars Records, USA
Thanks to fast-rising acts like You Blew It! and Touché Amoré, as well as the recent reunions of Braid and American Football, emo has made quite the dent in 2014’s musical landscape. Chicago’s own Kittyhawk are another band part of the 'emo revival', but they put a different spin on the genre by embracing pop sensibilities and even opting for a Farfiza organ in place of a bass guitar.
